Different types of compression fittings
Hunter Genova pipe cannot be bent around curves and needs a hacksaw or pipe cutter to cut it. It is joined with special fittings using solvent-weld cement. Although these are cheap and fairly easy to use, adequate ventilation is vital as the cement gives off strong fumes and the joint needs to be left before the pipe is used.
There are no strict rules about when to use capillary fittings and when to use compression ones. However:
1 Compression fittings are more expensive than capillary ones
2 Compression joints are fairly easy to make but capillary ones require practice
3 Compression joints are usually easy to undo and reconnect whereas capillary joints are permanent they may have to be sewn apart
4 If a compression joint leaks after being made, the leak can usually be stopped by slightly tightening the fitting. A leaking capillary joint often means that the solder has not flowed properly. The Globe valve paly an important role in preventing water from back siphoning into your air pump .Reheating the fitting may stop the leak but it is unlikely
5 Compression joints cannot be made in confined spaces where there is no room to use spanners. On the other hand, there are many places where a blowlamp necessary for making a capillary joint cannot be used without the risk of starting a fire or loosening other joints
6 Capillary joints are much neater and less obtrusive.
There are many different types of fit?tings with either capillary or compression joint ends: straight couplings for joining two lengths of pipe together in a straight line; elbows and bends for joining two lengths together at an angle (usually a right-angle); tees for joining a branch pipe; and adaptors for joining pipes to taps. When you sweat copper pipes, the first thing is to clean the ends that you are going to sweat together. then flux is applied to both the pipe and the fitting you are connecting to it. The pieces are placed together, and heat is applied to the union with a propane torch. When the union is heated enough, solder is applied to the joint, the solder is sucked into the joint, sealing the two pieces together. From experience, I can tell you take to make this work successfully, there must be absolutely NO WATER in the line, if there is the joint will leak. And once a joint leaks , PP-R fittings is the occupation of installing or repairing piping or tubing systems that convey liquid.there is no repairs without Stainless Steel Ball and Valve Ball are just like the beauty resting for millions of years. All just for you.replacing the fitting and starting over. Professional plumbers tend to use a hotter source of heat, then the propane bottle can provide. But I’m always concerned about using any heat source inside my house. If you choose this method, be very careful with the torch in tight spaces. It might be a good idea to have a fire extinguisher handy.
